FELDENKRAIS™ FOR PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS
Move better, sound better
Take your playing to the next level.
These Workshops are intended for professional musicians and students in superior conservatories. Students who prepare to enter a superior conservatory might also benefit from these Workshops.
The main goal of these Workshops is to achieve greater comfort while performing, which should allow new possibilities of musical expression to emerge spontaneously. This will not only help you to prevent injuries and fatigue, but it will help you find a greater sense of artistic freedom since you will increase your ability to explore different movements/actions/musical gestures…
The aim [of the Feldenkrais Method] is a person that is organized to move with minimum effort and maximum efficiency, not through muscular strength, but through increased consciousness of how movement works.
The Workshops are organised in two parts:
The first part is a group Feldenkrais™ lesson (ATM), in which you will increase your sensitivity to soft, small movements and learn how little changes can have an impact on your whole self or Soma, the body as experienced from within. This part takes about 1 hour long.
The second part of each Workshop is an individual lesson with your instrument (about 20 to 25 mins per person) where we will search new possibilities of movement through playful exploration and investigate how these small differences have an impact on how you produce sound with your voice or your instrument.
One or two workshops will allow you to discover the Method and to see if this approach suits your needs. If you would like to do some deep work, we recommend that you follow the whole 10 session cycle, to keep exploring on your own between the sessions and to follow weekly Feldenkrais™ lessons. You can also complete your learning with individual lessons.
As you may know, only consistent practice leads to deep learning: the more you practice, the more you will benefit from these workshops.
After each workshop you will receive a recording of the group lesson so you can practice at home.
The 10 Workshops cycle will be taught in English, with French and/or Spanish translation if needed.
Places are limited to 4 participants for each workshop to ensure the quality of the individual work.
If you would like to organise a Master Class type of Workshop (this means with some "active" participants and a public) in your Conservatory, music school, Academy, music festival, musicians gathering, etc., then don't hesitate to contact us to find the options that will best suit your needs.
